Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon!

My friend, Caet, and I had the opportunity to visit the Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon!

“For more than 50 years, the Portland Japanese Garden has been a haven of serenity and tranquility, nestled in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. It is considered the most authentic Japanese garden outside of Japan and one of the foremost Japanese cultural organizations in North America. As a top visitor destination in Oregon, the Portland Japanese Garden originally served 30,000 annual visitors. The Garden now welcomes more than 350,000 guests per year, a number that continues to grow annually.” More information about the Japanese Garden: Here.

When Caet and I first entered the Japanese Garden, we had the opportunity to be a part of a traditional tea ceremony in one of their buildings that was at the top of the stairs called Tsubo-Niwa. Really glad that we had the opportunity to be a part of a traditional tea ceremony because we learned so much about tea and tea etiquette!

After the traditional tea ceremony, Caet and I walked around the Japanese Garden which I will explain more in depth below!

Overall, the Japanese Garden was so beautiful! They recently did a remodel, which had a 33.5 million dollar expansion budget. If you ever decide to visit Portland, Oregon, this is a must see!

Brunch at The Daughter’s Butcher!

“The Butcher’s Daughter is a plant-based restaurant, cafe, juice bar and a vegetable slaughterhouse! They treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat: They chop, fillet and carve fresh produce into healthy vegetarian dishes and press them into pretty juices.

Their Los Angeles, California location serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. They take pride in our daily-changing menu, which is 100% vegetarian, and mostly vegan and gluten-free. Plus, they can always prepare substitutions for most dietary restrictions!”

Anthony and I had the opportunity to eat at The Butcher’s Daughter in Los Angeles, California. Anthony ordered the macro bowl and I ordered the market hummus and crudite starter.

The macro bowl had rice, roasted vegetables, avocado, black beans, hummus, arugula, and an egg.

The humus and crudite had raw vegetables, hummus, and housemate pita.

It was so delicious!
